K-IRI
K-Iri is a duo of singers, two voices harmonizing around their two favorite instruments, an acoustic guitar and a violin. The pair, made up of two young Kayiri women of Burkina Faso origin and Iri of Ethiopian origin, met in Montreal in the spring of 2015. Sharing the same desires, they compose music that evokes their origins but also their training, Sarah-Judith coming from the world of classical music and Iri from a self-taught group. Their creations draw their influences as much from the rhythmic of ethio-jazz as from contemporary soul, keeping a certain sobriety as a guideline, in order to tend towards purified compositions but of great strength.
