K-IRI

K-Iri is a duo of singers, two voices harmonizing around their two favorite instruments, an acoustic guitar and a violin. The pair, made up of two young Kayiri women of Burkina Faso origin and Iri of Ethiopian origin, met in Montreal in the spring of 2015. Sharing the same desires, they compose music that evokes their origins but also their training, Sarah-Judith coming from the world of classical music and Iri from a self-taught group. Their creations draw their influences as much from the rhythmic of ethio-jazz as from contemporary soul, keeping a certain sobriety as a guideline, in order to tend towards purified compositions but of great strength.

Lexis (Music is My Sanctuary)

Lexis is the founder of the Music Is My Sanctuary platform as well as the 24 Hours of Vinyl event series. For the past 15 years he has been a pillar of the Montreal music scene as a DJ and event organiser. He is also a speaker, music consultant for businesses as well as a radio / podcast host.

He was recently featured on the worldwide TED platform with a conference on the cultural role of the record collector community and importance of human music curation. This TED Talk has now been viewed 1 million times and is available in 18 languages. He continues to lead his two main passion projects: Music Is My Sanctuary (founded in 2007) has grown into one of the most respected independent music voices. Every week it features articles, interviews and podcasts from passionate music curators from all over the world. The 24 Hours of Vinyl (founded in 2011) has traveled to globe with the mission of uniting local DJ’s and dancers in their love of vinyl records. He also hosts a weekly podcast featuring long-form interviews some of the most progressive and accomplished musicians. As a DJ, Lexis is one of the most versatile out there and continues to tour the world, festivals, appear on radio shows, and share the stage with some of his heroes. In this era where most of the music is served by algorithms, Alexis continues to build and run projects all of which aim to reposition the human at the centre of musical discoveries, exchange and listening.

Asma (Tumbao)

Over the years, ASMA has travelled the world to find the best vinyls and its diverse selection will thrill you to the sound of all musical styles. From the Festival de Jazz de Montréal to La Nuit Blanche, this eclectic DJ has made a name for himself by the rarity and quality of the musical pearls he has managed to bring together from here and abroad.

GrandHuit (Tour de Manège)

GrandHuit is the founder of the Tour De Manège collective, an international beatmakers' collective. After many years of productions, travels and encounters, his ear has been sharpened to the sound of the different styles of music he now promotes with eclectic vinyl DJ sets as rich as his influences.

He has worked on stage with international artists such as GUTS, Elaquent, Mézigue, GREMS, Kognitif official, The Architect, Ours Samplus, DEMI PORTION... etc. as well as with various artists from the local Montreal scene such as Voyage Funktastique, Kris Guilty, Artbeat Montreal, etc... His various dates and travels have led him to play in several cities such as Paris, Florence, Krakow, Prague, among others. Now specialized in funk and jazz, his sets vary from disco-funk, boogie, afro-grooves, American, French and Canadian funk to which he adds a tropical touch directly from his Reunionese, French and Moroccan origins. Always eager for new discoveries and old-fashioned digging, he continues to explore different cities to complete his collection, whether solo or alongside his various mentors and elders such as Walla P and DJ KOBAL.
